Common Questions About Breast Lifts

What is a breast lift?

The breast lift, or mastopexy, is a breast enhancement procedure performed when the breasts droop or sag. By lifting them, Dr. Ciaravino can give you back a more youthful and perky appearance.

How does Dr. Ciaravino perform the breast lift procedure?

In the breast lift procedure, Dr. Ciaravino reshapes the breast mound and tightens the skin, and repositions the nipple. He will often use a breast implant in a combined procedure known as augmentation mastopexy. In this procedure, you will be able to choose the size and shape of your breasts. The surgery is done in an outpatient setting under general anesthesia. Recovery is rapid due to Dr. Ciaravino’s special surgical technique.

How long will the results of my breast lift surgery last?

The results vary from patient to patient. The connective tissue in the breast weakens as you age or become pregnant. An augmentation mastopexy can help slow the aging process, but time and gravity will continue to take their toll. However, you will be happy with your breast lift results for years.

Am I a candidate for breast lift surgery?

If your breasts droop due to weight loss, pregnancy or aging, or simply because of genetics, you may be a candidate for a breast lift. Women who have elongated breasts, downward pointing nipples, stretched skin, or misaligned breasts may also be candidates for this type of breast augmentation.
