Breast Augmentation Healing

How Much Time will it take to Heal after Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is an invasive surgery that will take time to recover from. As much as you will want to show your new figure, you need to be patient. Each patient’s ability to heal quickly will be different.

Here is a rough guideline to what you can expect after your breast augmentation with Dr. Ciaravino:

  • Week 1 – Rest is the most important thing you can do. Minimize upper body motion by avoiding pushing or lifting anything over 20 pounds. No exercise or other activity that gets your heart rate up. Your muscles will be tight, which causes your breasts to feel firm and look flat and wide. This is normal, so do not worry.
  • Week 2 – You may resume most of your daily activities, and most patients are able to return to work. You should still avoid pushing or lifting anything over 20 to 30 pounds.
  • Week 3 – You are 50 percent of the way to fully healing. You can start performing more activities, including brisk walks to work out your legs.
  • Week 4 – With Dr. Ciaravino’s permission, you are able to return to normal activities, such as running and lifting weights. Start out slow and pay attention to what your body allows you to do.
  • Month 3 – Your breasts will be in their final position and dimension after three months
  • Month 6 to one year – Final results of your breast augmentation will form. Scars will mature and begin to fade.

The healing process after breast surgery will vary from patient to patient. Some may feel better sooner, while others may take longer. The key is to listen to your body and talk to Dr. Ciaravino about how you feel.
