Questions to ask about Breast Augmentation

When you decide you want to undergo breast augmentation, you may have lots of questions, but not quite know how to put them into words. Or maybe you just aren’t sure what seems like an appropriate question. Dr. Ciaravino believes his patients have the right to understand the breast augmentation procedure and encourages them to be educated about this plastic surgery procedure.

Some of the questions about breast augmentation to ask your breast enhancement surgeon include:

  • What are some of the risks and complications associated with undergoing breast augmentation and getting breast implants? The chances you will have any of the risks or complications associated with breast augmentation are small. They can be corrected or fixed by Dr. Ciaravino as soon as they manifest.
  • How many breast augmentation surgeries and breast implants can I expect over my lifetime? Breast implants will not last forever, but they can last a decade or longer. How many surgeries or breast implants you need depends on the age you first got the procedure done. Breast implant replacement surgery is not as invasive as your first one and the recovery time will not be as long.
  • What size, texture, incision site and implant placement are recommended for me? You will discuss each of these with Dr. Ciaravino during your consultation. This is often a personal decision with Dr. Ciaravino’s guidance.
  • How will my ability to breastfeed be affected? Breast implants will not affect breastfeeding your baby because the milk ducts are not compromised in your surgery. However, your nipples may become more or less sensitive after breast surgery, which can be challenging to nursing mothers.

Many of the questions you have will be answered during your consultation. Dr. Ciaravino and his staff will be happy to answer any question you have about breast enhancement, no matter how big or small you think it is.
